My computer is not allowing me to download the pictures

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Nikon Transfer or any other photo cataloging program.

Play coolpix s230 video files

First of all, do not use that memory card until this file is properly recovered (take the card out of the camera). See the following video of a freeware recovery solution (PhotoRec). Recommend this program instead of what you used for recovery. PhotoRec is s usually very accurate in file recovery, including videos. This link shows where to get it with additional info on how to do it.

I have just come back

If you are using the in-built card reader, let me tell you that in most computers they are a liability. I suggest that you purchase an external USB card reader(costs about 2$) at a store that sells cameras, mobilephones and the like. Pop the card into it and connect it to your computer. Most probably it will work. If it does not let me know and I will give you more comprehensive recovery instructions using special tools.

PS: Bad rating = No further help!
