Gear noise in 2nd gear only

I have a 2001 shadow ace deluxe 750cd just bought it and it has a gear noise in 2nd gear only grinding noise at slow speeds and a acceleation wine when gearing up to go to 3rd can any one advise.

Either the gear bearings are worn out or the gear is. BTW check oil level as well

I have a 2000 Honda 750 ACE Shadow, had it new since Spring of 2001. Have always had a knocking sound in the engine. Service people have never been able to hear it regardless of how I explain it to them....
you may need to change your oil. go with a higher wheight and go with a synthetic blend but do not go full synthetic
