1996 vulcanD classic 1500 30,000km

Hi Everyone
I am a owner of a 1996D Vulcan 1500 classic.
The last couple of rides i have experienced the bike jumping out and in of 1st gear under hard acceleration. If i don’t give it full noise its ok. It is strange as i am thinking, if it is the dog clutches it should jump out and stay out, but this jumps out at say 3/4 revs and jumps straight back in like you slip the clutch ( or a chain jumping a tooth). The rest of the gears are fine. Is there a coupling of some sort?
Any feed back would be great.

Sounds like the gear selector plate plunger is worn or needs a new spring. on most engines a hollow screw @ 3/4" is accessible from under gear box, take it out and stretch the spring and retry to eliminate possibility.

New owner with no manual

No it does not. Was your sidestand down at the time? That is a safety feature to keep you from riding off without retracting it.
