SOURCE: starter relay clicks when you turn ignition key on
I would think bad starter. Remove it and have it tested to find out. It could also be the starter solenoid gone bad.
SOURCE: Turn ignition on and only get a click sound at
starter is sticking cahange it
first make sure ur enigne turns
Used parts such as starters and altinators don't last. It might **** but it sounds like you need to buy a new starter, altinator, and battery. Or just start with buying one at a time.
Testimonial: "kellertech1?? i tried something new.. my batt. was dead after sitting for 5hrs so i jumped it & later unhooked the batt. & hooked the batt. back up next day & car started ok kinda a weak start but started. so can a starter drain a batt or where should i look for a short or could this be a weak batt. that tested good but 2 weak 2 start the car."
Probably your battery is dead, enough for the lights or your alternator is bad which is what keeps the battery charged. Or your car is out of petrol.
Try to start the car with the lights on...if the lights go dead when you turn the key then the battery has low voltage. Try jump starting the car.
if the lights stay bright and you hear click, the starter is bad. Try hitting the starter with a hammer a few times. If the car turns over, then get at starter. -
