My caravan will not shift into overdrive and the speedometer quit working at the same time. also the fuel gauge is not working properly and when I select a gear a box usually shows you which gear is selected on the dash. now there is a box around all the gears all the time. any idea?

SOURCE: Instrument cluster failure causes fuse #29 to blow.

ok it could be quite simple
lets look at wrong size fuse
example 15 and you need a 25 fuse
also if you did any work on vehicle its quite possible that you grounded something out wrong retrace your work and fix accordingly
bad cluster relay is another problem that would cause these problems

I bet money on the tranny speed sensor being the problem- I think NAPA has em for about $100 bucks or so, but that has been a while. Good luck

the power button is so the torque converter doesn't lock up and that gives you extra pulling power and keeps the trans temps down, the overdrive resets every time you turn the key to off, so it makes no diff where the button is, this is a federal EPA mandate to increase MPG

These vehicles seem to have a problematic short, my grandfather has the same vehicle with the same problem, i found the short under the carpet on the driver side of the vehicle, under the gas pedal, sometimes wires can crack and break.
