Disconnect the fuel line from the filter and check if there is fuel when you prime it. If there is NOT fuel, you have a lead. If there IS fuel coming out, it might not be enough pressure. I had to replace an O-ring on the fuel pump assembly. Hope I helped.
I also have a -99 Forester S turbo with the same problem. Runs like clockwork between failiures but all of a sudden engine turns but will not start.
The workshop recomended fuelfilter replacement but I thaught it could have something to do with the immobilizer. what have you tried and ruled out?
