4L60E INTERCHANGES DOES anyone know why a 1996 4l60e transmission and transfercase won`t fit in a 1995? all the books say 1995 only but have read somewhere that you can change valve body or soliniods to make it work please if anyone knows please let me know thanx TONY [email protected]

I think from 96 till 04 they where the same,,, i may be wrong,,, on the ps of tranny there is a large round plug count the pins,, it could be 96 to 02,,, a transmission shop could tell you,, sorry i could not help

Call any salvage yard, they have a special book that details all possible interchanges for any part.

yes as long as they both have the same color plug,most have a green plug. you have to chek it on the transmission not the plug at the end of the wire harness that plugs into it.

4L60 E TRANSMISSION WAS IN THE 1996 MODEL TRUCKS. THE THM700 - R4 IS THE OLD STYLE TRANSMISSION BUT THE 4L60 - E TRANSMISSION NEW VERSION OF THE THM700 - R4. TRANSMISSION. 4L60 E COULD FIT BUT 2000 4L60 E TRANSMISSION ELECTRONIC HOOK UP THE PCM TCM WILL NOT MATCH 1995 MODEL TRUCK.

th 350/th400/700r4/4L60e transmissions will all bolt up. the (th) series only has three speeds. and the others have four.the 4L60e may need a stand alone computer as it was designed for use with the o.b.d.II diagnostic system

One of the bands or clutch packs are burned out in the transmission. Or that piston could have a blown or ripped seal.
That vehicle has a 4L60E transmission I am fairly sure. If it is a 1 ton it may have the 4L80E. If you really want to know I could probably check my books and tell you exactly which clutch pack.
I should think you would have other symptoms though as well like first gear going straight to second or some such thing.
This is all assuming it is an automatic. If it is a manual stick transmission then you still have a transmission problem. Would need more information to track down what exactly. Things like noises and circumstances. for instance the shifter goes into the reverse spot but
nothing more then a funny noise. OR the shifter wont even go into the reverse position.

No the 4l60e is a electronic transmission you need to find a 700r4 transmission which are very common. Check with your local junk yards and are pretty easy to install. About a full days worth of work for a person with general know how of vehicles.

It will if your blazer has a 4.3. It will bolt right in.

NO the converters and valvebodies are wrong. 1 is PWM modulated and other is not.!
