I have a 97 nissan quest xe the is having what could be described as a rough idle. I have replaced a motor mount, spark plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, ignition coil and ignition module. I did however return the ignition module because it seem to make it worse and picked up a different one but have not tried it yet. I have considered the knock sensor since after completing all of the above that is the only code that is coming up at the auto part store.. I have also had a garage hook it up to there scan system which has more info than the auto part store and after trouble shooting all codes that came up they came up with no problems, which also included timing and fuel pressure check.. The mechanic says he is stummped and now im really starting to freak!! Please help!!

I have a 1997 nissan quest xe and it runs pretty good in the morning when the motor is cold, but as soon as it warms up it starts to spit and sputter and sounds like it is fixing to die. We have changed...

When your engine is cold it runs in open loop, and bypasses the oxygen sensor. When warm it goes into closed loop, with the oxygen sensor controlling the fuel mixture. Replace the sensor.

What are all of the parts needed for a tuneup for my 95 quests

Spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and distributor rotor. If you replace all of these you would be doing what is called a major tune-up.

A regular tune-up would be just replacing the spark plugs.

You can check the integrity of the plug wires and distributor cap by spraying them with water while the engine is running. If the engine runs ruff, stall, or you see spark arcing from either the wires or the distributor cap than they will need to be replaced.

The distributor rotor always gets replaced when you replace the distributor cap.

You can also spray the coil with soapy water to see if it is leaking as well.

I have intermittent rough idle on my 2003 nissan altima. car shakes in gear at stop, mostly fine in neutral.

Replace the spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor. Next, check the idle air control valve and replace it if found faulty. If it still shakes, have the timing checked out

AUDI A4.24 SLIGHT VEHICLE VIBRATION

If your engine is not misfiring but it vibrates too much while idling your motor mounts might be getting worn out. I had a Nissan with bad motor mounts. I was ok in park but when you put it in gear it vibrated a lot. It smoothed right out as soon as you started moving.
