This sounds like something that happened to my Stratus.....my problem turned out to be the mass airflow sensor located on the intake manifold. Super easy to replace, one connector and two screws. Not hard to do it yourself.
I think we can figure this out.
Now that it doesn't start it won't be difficult to check the basics.
Does it have fuel pressure?
Does it have spark?
Does it have injector pulse?
Answer these three questions and ill do my best to get you pointed in the right direction!

if that is the dip stick you referred to, the fix is a new radiator and a professional flush from an automatic transmission specialist shop
Do the old additive method before you give up....................add one and a half cans of `Sea Foam TRANSMISSION TREATMENT' to it and follow directions. Sometimes that can of stuff is AMAZING! don-ohio
