Can you share more detail information about this noise ? How often does it happen ? When does it happen (turning) ? The more details you add, the better we can assist you with your possible problem.
Check the power steering fluid level, if it is at the right level then do this,
get the mechanic to inspect the Drive shaft boots , and
power steering rack & pinion.
Most noise in the steering is from the belt squealing on the steering pump pulley. If this is the case, You can try a can of Belt Dressing. If this doesn't work...the belt may need to be replaced...If the belt is not tight enough, it will cause it to glaze, and the result is a slipping belt that gets very noisy. When you steer, it cranks on the belt, causing it to slip under increased friction.
Hope that helps!
It might be a faulty power steering pump. Try checking the level of the power steering fluid. It is probably best you have your power steering system checked by a mechanic.
Does the noise occur only when the vehicle is moving?
Try moving the steering wheel from side to side, while stationary (but don't do it too often, or you might damage something). If the noise is still present when the car is stationary, then it probably is the power steering system.
If the noise only occurs while the vehicle is moving, it could be a problem with the differential/final drive, or even wheel bearings.
