Trailer light hook-up

We do not have the wiring diagrams. But here is the red neck method, use a 12 volt test light probe tool (any parts stores for $5) and as a friend operates each light circuit, probe the connector or harness and see what lights up, then mark the wire color and what it does, brake lights, turn signals etc.

I would like to know the color code of the wires to the rear lights to hook up trailer wires. Tailights, break lights, left and right turn signals

brake lights, white/tan stripe
tail lights, black/yellow stripe
left turn, light green
right turn, tan
ground, black

Note that your car has separate filaments for brakes and turns, so you cannot use the standard 4-prong trailer connector and will need an extra filament in your trailer lights.
Please let me know if you have questions, and thanks for using FixYa.

Tail light wiring connectors and wiring diagram

A test light checking each connector would be faster and easier to do. Maybe somebody may have a illustration for you but by far a simple test light is all you need with a helper turning on the different lights as you check them out and writing all your findings down

Need wiring color code for a 2000 saturn SL2 for hooking up a trailer light four pin connector

The trailer wires are left turn, right turn, running lights(the smaller elements on both tail-lights and any side lights) and ground. Energise the corresponding lights and connect the wires accordingly. Find a good ground. A piercing test probe will find the correct wire for you if you can't track it to the bulb.

Tow plug

I take it the blinkers and brake lights work ok when not hooked up to the trailer? If yes, then the wiring to the tow hitch is not hooked up correctly. How many wires to trailer pig tail connection? U can have up to 7 depending on what you tow. Check to make sure these wires are hooked up from the truck to tow plug correctly: 7 wired---
brown-Rt turn and brake light, yellow-backup, white-ground, blue-electric brake, green-tail running lights, black-battery charger, red-left turn signal and brake light. Let me know if u have something other than 7 wire, I'll get the wiring color and source info for u.
