SOURCE: 89 s10 blazer no spark

There is no test for module in distributor, but they often cause this kind of problem. Also while in there, check the pickup coil wires to make sure they are intact.

SOURCE: GMC JIMMY NO START BUT GOT SPARK AND FUEL

try the oil pressure switch, that was a common problem on Gm trucks when I used to work on them, the oils switch was bad and woulden't allow it to start and the ones I worked on were on the back of the distributor.

SOURCE: spark plug wires diagram for 91 gmc sierra

ok number 1 piston should be a top dead centre & mabe on the top of the cap is a mark or number
if not then there should be a mark on the lip of the dizzy!
if not then just choose one near the front & set the points at that point on the point of sparking! [ready to open points] make sure you have spark or you may have left ou the insulator on the points locating pin!!!
then its a matter of the firing order!
i hope this helps
cheers Rob

89 gmc jimmy 5.7L it gets spark from coil to distributer but not from distributer to motor. Spark plugs and wires are brand new, module is fine, cap and rotor is fine.

if im correct in saying this, i think there is a small cylindrical looking piece with one wire comming out from the front in the distributer under the distributer cap next to the points this is could a condenser you could try changing this for a new one all so check the gape your points make if to small you will get no spark as well if to big

I have a 2000 gmc jimmy with a service engine soon light. i received the code p0302 misfire detected cylinder 2.I replaced spark plugs and distributor cap and rotor. but still on. any other suggestion?

Well, Spark Plugs wear over time, seldom fail to fire
A worn or dirty rotor and cap will still fire, also

You never throw new wires at it,I don't,mine last 18 years,
on all vehicles

You need some OBD2 knowledge, start studying

The PO302,last # is the cylinder
Number 2 is misfiring

If you got individual coils, go there
If you got an ignition module, for all the cyl,go there
If you got plug wires, there is an extremely odd chance, one burned out inside ,on #2
& you did say your have a dist cap.

So you do have a cylinder monitor, that detected it
That may be the crank sensor, another possible

Need to know the system and how to test it.

You need to give veh specifics ,not just a year

HAVE A 1996 GMC JIMMY 4.3 NUMBER 1 PLUG IS NOT GETTING ANY FIRE TO IT .I CHANGED PLUGS ,PLUG WIRES , DISTRIBUTER CAP AND ROTOR BUTTON SO WHAT COULD BE MY PROBLEM?

it does not mean new parts are alway good. subtitive a known good wire and check for spark at the wire, if there is spark then check the plug.
if there is no spark then go back to your cap.
