To remove key (lock position), the transmission needs to be in PARK.
To start (engine crank), the transmission must be either in PARK or NEUTRAL.
Try apply parking break, put transmission in neutral and turn ignition key. If engine does not crank, turn and hold key in start position then move transmission selector to see if there is a transmission select position where it does crank.
Does it feel like the lock cylinder is turning the switch completely ? When you turn the key switch to the off position and take the key out, do the dash lights and gauges go off ? How do you stop the engine ?
make sure it is completely in park. sometimes you have to slam the gear shift into park position. make sure your key in in the on position. put the car in gear then slam it into park that should allow you to turn the key off completely and remove it
try and turn your steering wheel a little bit left or right and and the same time try and turn the key when it turns toward the dash then try and turn the key back. try and repeat this several times if neccessary. this should work. please rate this solution. thanks
