When put into reverse and gas is pressed car goes nowhere but revs up when car is put in drive and revs to 4000 RPM it just inches forward. Any idea why?

It could be as simple as a shift solenoid but you need to have the transmission checked. It can be diagnosed for about 90 bucks and well worth finding it now then later.

sounds like you have not adjusted a band or clutch pack setting correctly during assembly Recheck this area

Hi Tom your vehicle is equipped with a Rev limiter it will not allow you to rev the engine above 4000 with the trans in park; as for the first problem you may have one of two things, one of the spark plugs or spark plug wires is bad or you have a flat spot on the throttle positioning sensor in which case have be replaced. CHECK FLUID LEVEL MAKE SURE ITS CORRECT AND FLUID AND FILTER HAS BEEN CHANGED IF ALL IS GOOD. SOUND LIKE THE FORWARD CLUTCH HAS WORN BURNED CLUTCH PLATES OR ROLLER CLUTCH HAS DAMAGED ROLLERS MISSING SPRINGS.CHECK TRANSMISSION PUMP OIL PRESSURE FOR A STUCK PRESSURE REGULATOR.

first check the gear box oil level if its low top it up,,,,if this dont fix it you have a gear box problem

check for broken or disconnected vacuum hose/line
also check for the fast idle sped control valve for defect

Its the electronic shift control located just under the battery ontop the transmission replace or repair will solve the issue

it'll go into drive but once it reaches 1500 rpm it'll drop into neutral as a safety because at this rpm it is being told to shift gear and when it fails to do so it safely goes into neutral

it will go into reverse just fine and park and you can run all the low drive gears until you reach 1500 rpm then it'll cut it off

i pulled mine out re soldered bad components on the board to fix it but im an electronics engineer it may be easier for you to just replace it

internal transmission problem. The forward drive clutch has failed. Sorry for the bad news.

check the transmission fluid for starters. sounds like it is low. Is tranny still under warranty? I would take it back to whoever did work

Check the Intake Air tube the goes into the air cleaner and throttle body for cracks and cuts and being loose. Fuel Pressure have it checked while you are driving to make sure your noy loosing fuel pressure at the high Rs. Ignition System Factory Plugs and wires no fancy discount suppose to increase horsepower stuff
