My engine light has come on and engine is not performing after 2500rpm. what could the problem be?

You have a problem with your engine management and it has gone into safe mode to limit the power available and potentially save you from more major problems, You need to get it diagnosed with an OBD computor

First step is to get the codes. Some cars have the ability to retrieve the codes directly, but others will require the use of a scan tool.
