You should be using platinum or iridium plugs with the LT1, and you don't gap those, they are set at the factory. If for some reason you want to use copper, it's .050", but they are going to wear out faster so you aren't saving any money by using them. Also, it's not a very easy job, so you wouldn't want to have to do it two or three times when you could have done it once.

For a 97' Dakota, the gap is the same unless you bought gapless plugs. Set gap to 40 thousands. (.40)
Hope this helps. You can also always just ask the counter when you buy plugs. They will tell you the same gap space.

number-the gap is shown

You should have gotten a service guide (not work shop manual)
when you bought it,will be in there also

It used to be under the hood on the Emission Label, but
I have a 2014 veh & it is no longer there
