I have a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder and more often than not when I go to start my car in the morning or at some point through out the day, I look under the car and I have a small oil puddle. It seems to be coming from the front end of the car. It is definitely not from the oil pan plug. I am going to go under the car tomorrow to see if I can figure out exactly were it is coming from. I figured I would see if there are an experts that may have an idea about this problem.

The valve cover
gaskets can be a large job on this vehicle and could cost you $450-490
depending on the labor rate in your area. I would quote 5.5 hours; the rear main seal could be about the same, maybe $100 more in labor time.
I would expect an engine with this mileage to leak some oil... not drip, but seep oil on the hot engine and produce a smell or smoke. Make sure the PCV system is
working correctly, use thicker weight engine oil like 50 weight Castrol
and use an over the counter oil additive like Engine Restore, which you
can buy at your local auto parts store.
Hope this helps (remember to rating this answer and leave some testimonial comment).
Hello,
When the MAF on most vehicles reach a point of preventing the engine from starting, you can usually just unplug it and the engine will start. If that doesn't work-
You may want to try having the O2 sensor, ( Oxygen sensor ), checked. It works with other components of the emission system and can cause similar symptoms as the MAF, including preventing the engine from starting.
IF ITS MAKING A SQUEAK PUT SOAP ON THE BELT, AND LAY CARDBOARD UNDER VEHICLE OVER NITE AND CHECK FOR LEAKS OR IT MYBE USING IT IF YOU GOT HIGH MILEAGE ON VEHICLE..
power wash your engine and get as much of the oil/grease off as you can. then go to an auto parts store and pick up some dye for your oil (they'll know what you're talking about) follow the instructions on the bottle. Run your car for a while, then look where the color showed up on your engine...leak found!!
Oil cooler o-ring. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/25463-engine-oil-cooler-leaking-oil/ Not all coolers look like radiators. I wouldn't think it should cost that much. Try somewhere else.
