following the investigation into starter switch failures in GMC products I would be checking this out for a warranty repair . Reports show that over a million of GMC cars have a serious problem with the switch and they have been ordered to recall and replace the switches.
check wiring from drivers door to inside of car, wires sometimes split in half from door opening and closeing so much, if wiring is ok, the master contorl switch on driver door is bad.
