Check the Handle and make sure it has returned to fully closed. They tend to build a little rust and do not return all the way. If that is not it I would check the latch itself to see if it moving properly and not already in the closed position. Sometimes they will stick and when you try to close it will lock before it has caught the pin. If that is the problem you can spray with WD40 and operate handle while pushing out with screw driver. Good luck and have a good day.

2005 subaru outback immobilizer reset? Alarm was set with door being unlocked with key, immobilizer shut off all power. How can this be reset?

This could be a few things. If the security system was enabled and you just unlocked the door with a key and not using the remote, then all you have to do is put the key in the ignition and turn on/off three times. That's it!

Some cars have immobilizer keys. The immobilizer prevents unauthorized keys from starting the car (yours may or may not have it, depending on the exact Outback model).

Look here for the different styles of immobilizer keys:

I had my car battery replaced and now i open the door and the alarm goes off.

I have heard of this from various different car owners. One Mercedes owner didn't even know he had an alarm for 4 years. If you don't have the original key fob, you will have to get your solution from the nearest dealership. They can probably solve your problem over the phone. Good luck, my friend, Dana

Rear hatchback wont open

Sounds like the old rusty handle problem. I have found that the handle does not return all the way and it will not let it unlock. Push the handle toward the closed position and try to unlock then open. If this is the problem all you need to do is remove the rust and keep it oiled. Hope this helps and have a great day.

2003 Subaru Legacy Outback: Driver's door lock brocken, tab feels

alot of times a lock smith has "slim jimmed" the car before and that subsequently can break clips or knock off lock rods to the latch. not too hard to fix if you can get the door open in order to remove inner door panel accessing that latch and rods...if the door wont open i have used a very long ,slendy screwdriver and poked down the window opening to mannually open the door latch ...it takes a little time and some gentle poking to hit the lever on that door latch

Trunk lock won't open

Usually the problem is that the handle has not returned to the fully down position, probably because it's getting old/rusty.

When this happens on my Outback I just push the handle down until I hear it engage, then pull up and the door opens.

Some people lube the handle regularly. I haven't had to yet.
