Location of speed sensor on transmission 1997 gr caravan 3.3 engine

The input speed sensor is right below where the cooler lines are clamped the the transmission. The output speed sensor looks exactly the same as the input and is located to the right ( as you standing in front of the vehicle) of the input speed sensor.

How big should the hole be for the speed sensor in the transmisson for my 1997 dodge grand caravan se 3.0 liter

There is an input and output speed sensor. They look identical. The input is just user the cooler hoses and the output is to the right as your standing in front of the ven. A one inch socket will work to remove them. The hole in the transmission will be slightly smaller than one inch. If you need an exact size you can remove one of them nod measure it.

1997 dodge minivan speeddometer not working what could be that problem

I would check the Vehicle Speed Sensor wire to see if it is broken. It is located on the transmission.

Also the Vehicle Speed Sensor itself may be bad. The gauge on the instrument panel is also another possibility.

What is the engine size and submodel?

Transmission slipping 97 dodge grand caravan 3.3L V6 108,000 miles. when cold sometimes fails to engage for 20-30 seconds. Fluid leaks very slowly. I keep it full.

IF THE TRANSMISSION SLIPS THE FORWARD CLUTCHES ARE LIKELY WORN OUT OR THE TRANSMISSION HAS LOW HYDRAULIC PRESSURE, BOTH REQUIRE THE TRANSMISSION BE TORN DOWN AND REPAIRED OR OVERHAULED.

Transmission is not shifting gears while driving

First check fluid level. is check engine light on? is speedometer working? this can be caused by a malfuncition vehicle speed sensor or a mechanical condition such as a clogged filtre.
