The 3.0litre eng. and trans. in my 2000 caravan need to be replaced. I located a 2002 caravan with a 3.3litre eng. and trans. can i swap this into my 2000. and if so what needs to be done to do so.
No the tranny in these vans are specific to these exact years I had a similar issue go to you pull and upay salvage look for a 2000 caravan the trannny is only swappable by a exact year this is a 4 speed trans before you pull it make sure you drop the pan and see if theres any steel shavings in the pan also pull the solenoid and check in bound and outbound to see if they have shavings also try to pull a tranny from a caravan that has had a rear end crash doing these things will greatly improve your chances of getting a tranny that works good luck from fellow caravan salvage junkie that actually got his caravan going again for 350.00 bucks instaed of 2000. last thing call mechanics on craigslist and ask for a tranny swap labor quote make sure they flush the cooler that's standard in any tranny swap good luck
There is alot of differents between these years , engine mounting , intake manifolds, exhust ,wiring, computer, ac, power steering, ect ect. These are 2 different body styles.
Although the transmission may be siilar, the engine and supporting wiring harness, and control modules are not. This can be done, anything can, but it is probably more trouble than it's worth for a mini van. If this was a classic car then sure.
