2005 scion xadrivers sideHow to access bulb. How to disconnect from wiring harnessHow to handle bulbWill any alignment be necessary
I just replaced the bulb in the driver's side headlamp on my 2005 Scion xA without having to remove any screws, bolts or the grill. It's very simple, but it helps to have small hands. Just take the cover off the fuse box to allow more room for your hand. Reach in with your left hand and unplug the wiring assembly. Remove the rubber cover by using leatherman pliers. Squeeze the two sides of the spring clip together to release the bulb. Don't worry, the spring is hinged at the bottom, so you won't lose it. Take out old bulb & replace with new. Reverse steps, making sure you align the center hole of the rubber cover so that the three prongs of the bulb are protruding.
Just finished replacing drivers side head lamp bulb on my 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 . After spending hard earned money on worthless DIY Proffesioal websites, your question made me take a second look.
Yes remove the fuse box 1 nut and a phillips head screw and it slides forward from it's cleverly engineered holder on the battery shelf and there yo have it....
Easy access to the lamp plug, give the outter ring fastening device a twist and the bulb slides out with a little effort. from there reverse the process.
Thanks for the question, wish I'd read it before I registered for all the worthless forums.

Same problem with my 2006 Scion XA. Read other solutions about removing the whole headlight assembly, however that appeared much more troublesome. Removed the battery, and disconnected the fusebox from the fender. I then had room to change the bulb.
This info is not correct Remove the three bolts and two screws from the front of the lens. You will need a ten mm socket with and extension to reach the outside recessed bolt. The other two are located directly in front of the radiator area and are easily removed. You may need to remove one or two screws holding the rubber seal. That depends on your model and year. Head light unit now slides out forward and allows access to the bulb connections. You may have to wiggle it a bit to get it to move.
Tried this but it wont move???? what am I missing? do I have to remove the battery also?

Seems that the fusebox is too close behind the driver side headlight to be able to get the buld in or out of the housing from behind; does the housing or the fusebox need to come off to change this? Who is the ******** engineer that designed this, shouldn't headlight be relatively east things to replace.
