The truck is running great, then, for no reason i can detect, it will act fuel starved.I have replaced plugs, plug wires, distributer cap, rotor,o2 sensor, checked vaccuum hoses for leaks, checked fuel pump, replaced fuel filter, fuses, cleaned tps(throttle positioning sensor). What to do next as far as troubleshooting?

check the fuel presure when hot or leave the fuel gage instaled and see if it drops when warm or with the problem present

The description sounds like a technical Service Bulletin Nissan came out with on your car. It fits your description to a "T".
However, the codes you are getting are not what the service bulletin reports. The code they say it sets is DTC 0400 which relates to an irregular EGR operation, causing a problem where it will not maintain an idle or Will idle roughly. There is not a recall campaign on this item.
As far as misfire problems: Nissan had a service bulletin out on problem ECM's which caused this problem. Check with your local dealer. This may possibly be covered under warranty.
The reference number is NTB97-026 The bulletin was issued March,12,1997 There was no recall on this item.
Good luck to both of you.

Try to disconnect MAF sensor(mass air flow sensor) or MAP sensor (manifold absolute pressure) , I don't know which one you have , (suppose to have either one) , when engine running and see if it becomes any better , if it did , then it's your problem.
Just remember one thing , if your check engine light is off now , it will be on after you disconnect any above mentioned components.
Easy to reset , disconnect battery for 30 sec.

This truck has 2 ignition shstems,One of the modules is malfunctioning. follow the primary wiring from distributor to the ignition modules closeby. Disconnect one at a time untill problem found.

About the only items left that could cause the problem are the Mass Airflow Sensor, and Throttle Position Sensor. But, without any codes, it would be hard to find out if one of them is at fault. There should be trouble codes if the check engine light is on. Have the computer tested to see if it is working right. Since you replaced the distributor, the timing could be an issue. When you say the knock sensor has been eliminated, do you mean it has been unplugged? Of has it been bypassed. If the distributor can be rotated while the engine is running, try moving it back and forth to see if the engine will rev better. If the knock sensor is unplugged, plug it back in.
