Remove the plastic cover from the steering colum then you will see the switch on the left side remove the 2 screws you will need to turn the key to release the switch reverse to put together then you will need to relearn the switch to the body control module this is done by turning to crank and leaving it in the run position til the security light stops flashing you will need to do this three time after the third time remove the key for a min then start the car if possible but on a battery charger if the battery goes died during the relearn you will need to start over

you must remove all the plastic face plates around the radio then remove the radio itself.be cautious as you could damage the clips that hold the plates in place.

SOURCE: 2006 chevy cobalt woulnt start lock light is on

Are you using the original key that came with the car? The chip in that key may have gone bad. Try using the spare key that should have come with the purchase of the car. You may also be having battery issues. If all else fails....call the people who really know how to rape you...DUM Dum dummmmm....the dealer

SOURCE: how do i change the car battery for 2006 cobalt?

the battery is located in the trunk under the carpet where the spare tire is located, loosen the 10 mm nuts on the terminals and pull them off, gently pull the vent hose from the battery, loosen the bolt for the battery hold down, usually a 13mm or 15mm, remove battery and reverse the process to install

SOURCE: My 2006 Chevy Cobalt steering wheel has locked and

sounds like your steering column lock is binding you need to slightly turn the steering one way or the other while turning the key at the same time. this happens if the steering wheel is turned after removing the key. or when parked against a curb.

2006 Chevy Cobalt SS. How to get past the antitheft system on it please.

A nice simple answer, you can't. Think of it this way, the car doesn't know you are the owner, and it is there to stop exactly what you are trying to do. You have two computer ECM and BCM, plus the antitheft module and a number of sensors all trying to stop you. All you have to do is the re-learn procedure. Plan B is an auto electrician or alarm / radio installer or auto locksmith.

30 Minute Re-Learn Procedure
  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON (vehicle will not start).
  3. Observe the SECURITY telltale, after approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn OFF.
  4. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds .

Car will not start-battery is fine

Try this Put your key in turn it on dont start wait 10 mins remove key wait 10 seconds repeat this a total of 3 times. Your theft light should go out. As long as the light is on your fuel system is disabled. If that dont work try a different key do the same thing. If that dont work a dealer needs to probably replace and reprogram your ignition switch and keys
