Nissan has issues with sending units in your type truck. nissan extended the warantee on those up to 72k miles, so if your truck has less than 72k go to your local friendly nissan dealer and they should replace it for FREE. If you have more than 72k on it, than you will need to remove the gas tank to replace sending unit. and of course you will need a specialty tool to open the gas tank top. there is a big retainer ring that you need to take off to get inside of the tank to replace sensding unit. so to sum it up, if you have less than 72k go to a dealer. if more than 72k you will need to doit your self.

Does the fuel gauge works with a separate fuse

most fuel gauges draw power from the dash gauge or panel accessory's fuse ,if only that one gauge is bad , most likely the sender in the fuel tank has let out and died on you , tank will need drained and removed to change this sensor , also I did have the little plug on sensor on tank pop off one time on me that kept the gauge from working too

My fuel gauge and speedo dont work but i have noticed when i brake the fuel gage moves to full and when i take my foot of pedal it goes back to zero

Without knowing the year, make, and model, it it impossible to answer with any certainty, but...

I am fairly confident the speedo not working in unrelated to the gas gauge. Unless both gauges stopped working at exactly the same time, I would assume these to be separate issues and try to solve them individually.

For the gas gauge, you need to figure out where the fuel sensor is located. A lot of late-model cars are designed with this sensor inside the gas tank. If yours is in the tank, it may have come loose and be laying at the bottom of the tank. If so, the sloshing of the fuel due to the braking force may be causing the sensor to momentarily send an inaccurate reading. Unfortunately, it is expensive if you have to drop the tank.

For the speedometer, a lot depends on what kind of car you have. On older cars, the speedo cable could be disconnected/broken/kinked. This is easily fixed by simply replacing the cable. On newer cars, it could be a wiring or chip issue.

There is a (small) chance that both problems are related. If so, it is likely an electrical short of a loose wire. Check for any that may be hanging down near the brake pedal.

Good luck!

My gas gauge stopped working, says it's full,I go to put gas in it and can't get gas into tank ,it wants to come out,but knowing it's empty, was wandering if it needs a new sensor?

Putting gas has nothing to do with you fuel gauge problem
Must problems to add fuel and comes out can be cause by air flow in the tank, also it is recommended to fuel with the engine turn off so the pressure from fuel pump going back to the tank will not affect the fueling , about you fuel gauge not working properly can be cause by a electrical problem such wiring or defective gauge or can be fuel sender problem with most the time it is install on fuel pump assy.

I just bought a 98' Tahoe and the gas/fuel gauge does not work. Checked the fuses and tried a new one for the gauges fuse and the gauge worked but then went back to empty. When I removed the fuse the...

The computer does a sweep test everytime it senses power. Check it next time you turn the key to run the gages do a little self test. However the fuse and gage won't be your problem. They are very bad for the fuel level sensor in the tank getting corrupted or dirty and doesn't read properly. You can try to add port fuel injector cleaner to the tank, but problem will usually reoccur. You will need the fuel tank dropped and the level sensor replaced.

I have a 2005 Malibu V6 LS. Whenever I fill the tank with fuel(completely full) the engine light comes on and stays on for a couple of days. This causes problems with my remote starter - it doesn't work...

your car has a fuel level sensor on the fuel pump which is in the gas tank that is going bad this makes your engine light come on also makes your gas gauge read faulty, I think you can buy the fuel level sensor seperate from the fuel pump but i am not for sure my wifes car does the same thing i just havent got around to fixing it yet but when i do i will repost and et you know.

Fuel sensor gauge

you will need to replace the fuel level sensor.(sending unit) it is in the tank and is hooked to the fuel pump. you can buy seperatly from pump. you may finf it easier to remove the bed if you have some help. it is six or eight bolts and harness unplugs then you can get right to it.
