2005 Volvo XC70 Questions & Answers
Xc70 (05) has a click when you try to start and a brake failure message
Hi, could do with a little more info to be sure but it sounds like low battery voltage. That would cause the starter motor to click when trying to crank and low battery voltage could trigger other faults including brake and ABS warnings. Do your dash lights dim when trying to start the vehicle? That would be another symptom of low battery voltage.

My 2005 XC70 Volvo has started to cut out when
Weak spark or worn out plugs will manifest themselves more under heavy throttle operation, but the first thing we think of whenever someone mentions hills is fuel delivery volume, and the first suspect with low fuel delivery volume is the fuel filter. I would replace that filter before looking any further,
If that does not correct the problem, some more in-depth diagnostics of the fuel pump and the rest of the fuel delivery system will be in order.
2005 XC70 with headlamp auto load levelling stuck
follow the cables back from the motors in the headlight and see if you can find the leveling sensor ,i would imagine that both headlights have a common feed to this motor so it must be under the bonnet somewhere and it may just need a oil up with a oil can to soak in so as to free it up
I use a gell cell battery to run a resmed device
work on the assumption that a battery needs 15 mins of engine running to fully recharge after one start,so connecting a gell cell battery to the cigar lighter would work perfectly well, especially if the cell was down on charge.
Volvo 1992 XC70 AWD radiator fan doesn't shut off
It is likly a dirty relay. This is located on the passenger side by the ratiator fan, with a black plastic cover over the box. Be sure to disconnect the negetive side of the battery before working on any thing electric. Clean the relay contact points using 200 grid sand paper (wet-dry black paper), You can use a spray electric contact cleaner as well, which you can get at most autoparts stores.
Headlight bulb replacement
There should be a cap or cover behind the lamp assembly under the hood. 1/4 turn counter clockwise (if it is a hard cap) should expose the bulb and retaining spring (clip). Squeeze the clip to release it from lamp assembly. unplug old bulb, plug in new and then do the opposite to replace it. Good luck, them clips is the devil.
