1997 Pontiac Grand Am - Page 9 Questions & Answers
1997 pontiac , grand am 3100 v-6 runs good but poor idle what could be wrong
Without some more detail it could be a multitude of things. Bad ignition, fouled plugs, bad wires, vacuum leaks, MAF sensor, IAC sensor, the list goes on. Is your check engine light on? If it is you can get a scan done at most auto parts stores free to check your codes. That would go a long way to helping find your problem. If it is not on can you give a little more detail on exactly what its doing, how it sounds or acts?
Mechanic sais my 97 grand am has blown head
If you want to keep it for another 180000 miles, definetly.....just ensure that it is only head gasket, take for a second opinion, and tell them what you told the first mehanic, dont tell them head gasket, and if they diagnose the same, ask for cost......if close to the first one, go back to him, since he treated you right in the first place.....

Gas gauge doesnt work
Yes the gauges are on a fuse marked gauges.I think that fuse is in the interior box, could be in the glove compartment, under the instrument panel, or on either end of the dash where the door closes. Your owner's manual should help you there.
