Service Engine Soon "?If the warning lamp comes on either continuously or intermittently, this indicates a malfunction in the emissions-related electronic systems." EML light: "Engine electronics ?Malfunction in the engine electronics. You can continue to drive with reduced engine output or engine speed." Triangle circled by an arrow: "Automatic Stability Control plus Traction (ASC+T)/Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) ?Indicator lamp flashes: System active: drive and braking forces are regulated. The indicator lamp stays lit: ASC+T/DSC switched off with button or defective. In the event of a defect: please have the system inspected at your MINI Dealer." First, inspect the belts to make sure none failed at high RPM. If one broke, inspect any cable or hoses in the plane of the belt to see if there was any damage (e. g., a ripped wire in the ASC+T/DSC system). Second, get a readout of the engine error code. (If you get indications of a major vacuum leak including rough idle, look for a blown head gasket.) If you get something else, please post the results in a comment so we can go to the next step.

U will need a schematic for you to find out the path of electricity to all of the affected areas. Apparently they all have something in common so it should ne be too hard to locate the cause.

If you look at the battery terminals the battery is marked pos and neg and from that you can determine the colour. If you are saying you don't know which cables are which because the battery is missing then the negative is the smaller diameter terminal or the one with the chassis connection.

there is a different "parts number" for each part on car. You use the parts number to order those parts from auto parts store!

The cable to the water valve that allows hot water from cooling system to circulate the heating part may be stuck or broken or the valve itself may be stuck. The cable may also have slipped and become too loose so it won't operate properly, last alternative is an air lock in the water system

if it cuts out when at lights or stop signs and your foot is on the brake , it is very possible that the brake booster is leaking air test that by running the engine at idle with the hand brake on and if it is ok but fails when you apply the foot brake , then replace the booster the advice to run the engine on a long drive is not really good advice as the ECM ( if it is fuel injected) will reset the tuning level for the new fuel with in 5 minutes of constant speed driving
