Most of them are set up to do that. Whether or not the police are notified would be a question for the owner of the ATM machine.

its not logical to me to take on the "would be robber" and be stabbed, cut or dead .. .. ..over some cash

I doubt it very much but why not get the answer from the horse's mouth and ask a police officer.

Hi Jeannie Yes that is correct, what happens is you input your pin in the wrong way round ie if your pin is 1234 and you input it as 4321 you still actually get the money as well but as the money is dispensed an automatic alarm is triggered ( silent) and then that informs the police that something is wrong at that bank ( not the cashpoint as such ) hope this helps
