I am wondering if you have tried another sim card in your newly found phone?

In theory there should be no problems just put your sim back in and make calls.

I am wondering If Tesco have changed service provider in the last 6 months? If they have it could explain your problem.
Asda mobile changed provider about a year ago from Vodafone to EE and my phone stopped working because it wasn't an unlocked phone. As it turned out I had to replace my phone for one that was unlocked because it wasn't worth the expense and trouble of having the old one unlocked. The old one still works fine on Vodafone and O2.

Just a thought. Another thought is perhaps it developed a fault while it was lost or maybe someone has been fiddling with it in that time.

There are lots of aftermarket phone shops around with specialists to give advice. The Tesco helpline might be able to help.

To unlock a cell phone, you must call your cell phone carrier, so in your case, you will have to call Vodafone to request an unlock for your phone.

It can be that your plan charge for the use of the internet, that is what they call "data plan" so they charge for", so let say you download a ring tone or a song that is data!

If it happens again take it back.

PUK refers to Personal Unblocking Key. This is a Code which is offered only by Service Provider. There is NO charge. Call up Vodafone and ask for the same and they would be glad to offer that.

I am using Sagem for the past 2 months, but unfortunately i was forced to unlock my mobile twice, both time i used http://www.mobile-unlocker.com/ for unlocking my mobile and it was easy to get.

it's easy - go to www.vodafone.com.au/unlock & follow the link to do it online. It mentions charging $25 to get it done, but I entered my phone's IMEI (explained in their instructions) - it instantly gave me the unlock code without charging a cent. I guess that's because it was out of its contract, but that's pretty cool compared to other mobile companies. (I did this yesterday: 4/6/09.) Good luck.

last week i found a website to unlock my mobile, it is reliable notmuch cost but this is not free of cost, if you want just try http://www.unlock-zone.com/

The problem is that the battery gets old and swells up and presses on the back of the button. I had to pop it open after watching a few youtube instructions, but the only way to get the button to stay unstuck was to leave the case slightly open at the top. When I close the case the swollen battery stops it working again. Tried removing the foam backing from the hard drive, but this did not help. It still works great now in my docking station but I would not want to take it portable with the case not properly closed.
