I have a 1981 rockwood camper popoup recently started leaking ,i have damagae inside camper(ceiling).also repair outside as well and latches& roof need to be fi.what do i do?

First thing you want to do is to find the source of the leak(s) and seal it to prevent further damage, and if not possible to get it inside, at least get a tarp over it to stop further moisture from entering. In all honesty, they are not real difficult to repair, you just need a place to remove the roof in order to replace damaged parts. Easiest way is to remove it from trailer, and go from there. If outside and sides as well as ends are still good and solid, then it's just a matter of replacing ceiling panels, which wouldn't require removing roof, but by sounds of it, if latches are falling off, and wood is rotten behind them, it may be time to rebuild sides etc. Let me know how bad it is, and include some pictures if possible, and we can guide you through it. Be sure to take pictures before, for your own reference when re-assembling.

I touched thrmostat to change setting when it was shocked by a carpet shock. what do i do? thanks rick

If it was just a static electricity carpet shock, raising the humidity level in your home will reduce that problem. In the winter, the interior air of the home becomes to dry. 30 to 40% humidity is about what you should try to maintain in the winter. 0% or as close as you can get to it, in the Summer.

Sometimes the auxilary heat light comes on, and this morning the auxilary and emergency lights were on. Our electric bill has been really high the past two months.

Assuming we are talking about a Heat Pump system with an outdoor condensing unit and an indoor air handler, it is not uncommon for electric bills to escalate during the harder winter months.
Typically, the auxilary heat light energizes whenever the electric strip heaters are in use. These heaters are used to supplement the heat from your heat pump system which will be unable to maintain desired occupied setpoint with outdoor temperatures below 35degF. At outdoor temperatures below 35degF is not uncommon for the heat pump to run non-stop and the electric heaters will cycle on and off as the temp in the house drops between 1/2 to 1 1/2degF below setpoint. The electric heaters will also come on when the system goes into a defrost mode...defrost modes typically last anywhere between 2 - 8 minutes. The emergency lights, depending on your thermostat, will come on whenever the thermostat is placed in EMER HT. Some systems energize the emergency heat lights to indicate there is a problem with your condensor unit.
I suggest you ensure the thermostat is in HEAT mode and not EMER HT mode. Also, while the system is running, step outside and visually inspect your condensing unit. Is it running? Does it appear and sound like it is running normally?
Don't forget your air filter. This is the single most important and most-neglected maintenance item on your system.

If after these steps, you still feel as though you are having problems and would like to try and correct them yourself, please let us know.

I hope you find this information helpful. Good Luck to you! :-)

Hello young lady, if I lived close to Morgan county, I would come and see what I could do to help you at no charge.Do you know anyone that may be able to come over and at least put a tarp of some kind over this leak until you can make an arrangement to have it repaired? You can't live right under these kind of conditions! If you know any men folk that you can call, please do it.A tarp would help a lot. Make some calls to some roofing repair Companies and explain your situation and hopefully someone will come to you're rescue. Good luck and God bless you.

Sounds like a lousy job. Best tape is alluminum. You can pick it up at Home Depot or Lowes. If the tubes are flex duct be sure to pull back the outer insulation and tape just the inner lining

You actually posted this in the wrong area but I am originally from Minnesota and can tell you. What's happening is called ice damming. They do make a drip edge type of thing that isn't very expensive for just this very thing. Go to Lowes, Homedepot, Menards etc. NOT your local trailer supply as they usually charge more. The clerk at the hardware store should be able to help you. Good luck. Please don't forget to give me a Fixya rating.

RV Dometic AC Comfort Control Double EE Problem

I have a dometic duo-therm. The unit works great and fan blows strong and both high and low work., but air is coming out of the ceiling unit rather than the duct work. The bedroom unit works OK, but the air is strong out of one duct, and not much comes out of the others. The front unit only has air coming out on the A/C unit and none out of the ducts.
