Why doesn't the restore disc help me out? I thought if I replaced the hard drive I could use the restore disc to get me running again.where do I get a system disc for Windows 7 if I need it

the best place to buy one is from a computer shop.
or you can buy them on line.
sounds like the restore disc you have would of been for the old hdd.
a restore disc is not the same as a windows system disc.

How do you restore the factory settings on the acer aspire 5532?

Well, first acer brand is cheap, and they don't give you a factory restore disc or a restore partition drive like most other laptop. However they give you the option to make a factory restore disc yourself, there is a program in the laptop ( browsing through your start task bar) should be a program such as acer recovery management, from there on use that program and make a retore disc. Once disc is created, you can go ahead and procced to restore your laptop in which you need to change your boot option to disc during startup of the laptop in order to boot from the recovery disc you just made.

I want to restore my factory settings

Do you have the restore discs? If not order them or go to Toshiba site and order them or download them if that is the option they provide for you. Also if you have the restore disc then just insert the restore disc and follow the on screen directions.
Make sure that the boot order is set to DVD or CD as the first boot and hard disk as the second boot this should be already set in the BIOS. Order the discs if you do not have them imperative. Thanks for using FixYa!
P.S. If you cannot get a restore disk from Toshiba I use this site for all restore discs. Note you have a PayPal account it is free to get at PayPal.com I use PayPal because I know it is a legit site. Click Here

Have a look in your manual, it will let you know where the rescue partition is, indeed if it is still intact.

My asus 1001ha is infected with viruses & wont do anything how do i restore to factory settings?

If it is a bad virus that won't let you do anything on the computer, follow the instructions on this link. If you can install programs on your computer, follow only steps 7 and 8 from the above link.

If you still want to restore it to factory settings, you will need the restoration CD/DVD that came with the laptop, put it in the drive and boot from it to start the restoration to factory settings. If you don't have the restoration disc, you will need a Windows installation disc to install a clean copy of Windows and wipe the HDD. Same process, put disc in and boot from it then follow the instructions for Windows installation (you will need the drivers disc though).

is your restore disc the MS OS disc?are you trying to fresh install OS? if so then you need a restore/ OS disc with SATA drivers in it...then it will 'see/recognise' your HDD

System restore disk to download

I understand that you want to download Restore discs to download.

I regret to inform you that the Restore Discs are not available to download. I am afraid that you need to contact HP to get the discs. They will provide you weblink to purchase the discs online.
Thanks
