The nano should have come with a USB cable that plugs into your computer. You can plug one end into the Nano and the other into the computer (the computer may need to be powered on) and it should charge it right up for you.

Nano

Connect the supplied USB cable to the Nano and then plug it into the USB port on your computer. The computer's USB port will charge the battery as well as downloading music files to the Nano.
You can also use a mains powered USB adapter to charge USB devices like your Nano.

Wont charge

How long have you had your iPod nano? It could be that charging jack the connector on the nano or the battery. When plugged in to a power source do you see the charging indicator in the upper right corner of the screen? If it's there and showing the lightning bolt charging or if you have noticed a decrease in the battery life or it's most likely the battery.

If this is a sudden problem it's the jack or connector. All you can do is attempt to charge it with another method. You really need to get a separate charging cord and plug and test it on your nano. If takes a charge your going to have to replace your cord. If not it's likely that the connector on the nano has been damaged. There are places you can send it for repair.
Hope this helps.

Nano 8gb does not charge battery(3th generation)

the ipod of the 4th generation does only charge in USB mode and the Harman & kardon speaker only supports I link charge mode(fire wire 1394) so i bought an awsome sounding machine wich does not charge my ipod nano.
however i must say that i have a solution, when you put the USB cable in the back of the H&K, you can charge the nano with a charging device of an ipod.

Can I use Firewire to charge? Can I use Firewire to charge or sync the iPod nano?

Unfortunately, the iPod nano only ships with a USB 2.0 cable, which alienates many Mac users who only have USB 1.1 and Firewire ports. Although Apple offers no official support, you can both charge and sync your iPod nano, albeit slowly, using USB 1.1. Or, you can charge your iPod nano, but not sync, using Firewire.
