I had recently loaded a new roll of film and had taken several pictures, with no indication of there being a problem. When I tried to take another picture, I got no response. When I looked at the small digital screen on top I saw the number "5" and a small image of the casing of the film used in camera (end view). My first thought was that somehow I had mistakenly taken a number of pictures but I'm not so sure.Thinking the problem might be the battery, I replaced it but this didn't make any difference. The screen still shows the casing image and the number 5. When the camera is turned off the symbols show constantly. When the camera is turned on, the film canister image blinks but the number 5 does not.
I tried to see if I could locate the user's manual on the web, hoping there might be info about whether the number 5 was a message indicating the nature of the problem. HOwever, I couldn't locate the manual.
Assistance, suggestions, advice would be appreciated.

wgokey1,
yes it should auto rewind. if it's new take it back to where you bought it. if not new, get an estimate cost before repaired.
