From what I've read, everything points to the fact that there are no factory installed "cabin" or "air conditioner" filters for the Ford Explorer. That is not to say that some dealers may have installed one as an aftermarket sale, however. There are other Ford vehicles that do have these filters, and a dealer may have figured out a way to get one installed. As it stands, I have not seen any filters listed for sale at parts stores for the Ford Explorer that is described as one of these filters. Check with your local auto parts suppliers to see if they offer such an animal. Good luck!

If compressor not engaging, could be low on R-134 from a leak in the system. There is a low pressure switch in the system that prevents it from coming on if it's low on R-134.

The air conditioner on my 2002 Ford explorer does not cool anymore.

hello cron.... most likely cause is that it just needs to be recharged with coolant. find a local garage that services ac. if it is just the coolant issue you will be chilly again for about 40 dollars. Joe

More then likely it's going to be your a/c compr clutch hub bearing, Napa auto parts stock's this item part # 5106WCC. The growling sound is the hub bearing, where your serpentine belt ride's on.

2002 ford explorer

I am guessing here w/o much info, 1 of maybe 4 things, idle speed contoller motor, low fuel pressure, dirty air filter, or lastly, carbon buildup on the throttle body throat. When cold idle the carbon blocks off the little needed air and the engines will run rough or just die.

2001 Explorer sport will not keep running when cold. After many restarts it will idle and is fine.

HI..............
Check for any vacuum hose disconnected or damaged.
Check the condition of the air filter.
Check the condition of the hose from the air filter to the throttle body. for no escape of air., loose clams.
Need to check the fuel pressure, replace the fuel filter.
After if the fuel pressure is OK.

Replace the part that control the idle when the car is cold.
The name is : IDLE AIR CONTROL MOTOR.
But before check everything show above.

Thank you for use fixya.
