I stepped on my Iomega external memory and went to PC world for data recovery, they can't do it?could you help?

take the drive out of the case and try this cable:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812123312

If the internal drive is physically damaged (if it wont power on or spin) then you will need to use a data recovery service that can pull the drive apart and recover the data directly from the platters. Note: These services are expensive.

Ive been using my iomega eGo external hard drive for a couple years now. Today, it wont show up when i plug it into my laptop. The LED is blinking, albeit in a very random rhythm. Any suggestions?

These are some of the most robust external drives available. But, everything breaks. The most likely cause is a failed controller in the case. Remove the drive and put it into a new case.

How can I tell if everything is downloaded to my external drive...it was flashing and then stopped to leave a little light on...how can I tell how much memory is left on that external hard drive?

Hello and Good Day!

1.Click Start on the lower corner of your desktop PC go to My Computer. 2. Left Click My Computer using your mouse.(it will pop up new windows) 3.Locate your Hard Drive perhaps it is labeled as IOMEGA or removable drive. 4. Right click IOMEGA or removable drive then select Properties.a new window will pop up displaying a circle with two colors one is pink and other is blue. blue represents as used space and the pink as free space
Hope it helps Thanks!

I do not see the iomega icon on my control panel to view files saved to it. What can I do? please help

You wouldn't want to look in the Control Panel for your drive to access your files. You would want to look in My Computer (2000/xp) or Computer (vista/7). If they are not showing up in My Computer or Computer.

I have an Iomega external hard drive but my Acer Aspire One will not recognize the drive. It worked yesterday but today it is not recognizing the drive.

Hi

I guess that you have connected the external hard drive via a usb

have you tried plugging it into another usb

if it were not the case that it was working yesterday i would of said make sure the jumpers on the external hard drive are not set to master either take off completely or set to slave

hope this helps

Disk spins ...then I hear a beep...icon does not show up

The hard disk or the adapter case maybe faulty.
To test the hard disk, remove it form the Iomega case and connect it to an USB hard disk adapter and plug it into a computer's USB port.
If this computer see it as an external hard drive and you can open the folders and files then the hard disk is OK, then the Iomega adapter case is faulty.
Then you need a new hard drive adapter case, it doesn't need to be an Iomega brand.

Computer doesnt read the external hard drive anymore

It sounds like the hard drive head crashed when you pulled the power plug. Unfortunately if you can't get drive to be recognized, you won't even be able to run any diagnostics. You will have to take the drive to an authorized repair shop who will have to check the electronics to see if the head will respond. Unless you have data on your drive that you absolutely need, you will probably save a lot of money by replacing rather than repairing the drive.

Bought an Iomega external hardrive and saved all my things from my previous job on it. Now, I am opening everything at my new job and although I can open it, I can not saved or edit or delete anything

Hello:

When you open My Computer is this new external drive recognized? Does it happen to say Disconnected Drive?

At work, does your IT department restrict you from adding any perripherial devices to your computer?

If this does not help, please let me know.

How to move contents from computer default hard drive to external iOmega hard drive, to make computer faster

There is a program on the xp cd called Fastwiz- it will save all your profile data for you. Unfortunately it's REALLY slow and you would be better doing it by hand. If you want to do it by hand you will need to copy all the data in the Documents and settings folder for all the profiles, plus any other data that you will need to reload the drivers. I recommend saving the e-machines drivers directory.
Wiping and reloading the operating system is the best way to resolve problems with a slow system, and a faster bigger newer hard drive is a good idea too. E-machines have a tendency to just die after a year- be aware that you get what you pay for. Also adding more ram to this system will help too.
