I'm trying to use the built-in webcam via msn, but I can't find how to connect it. When I set it up on the msn settings, it says there is not webcam found. I can't find a webcam under control panel either. How do I get this to work?

There is no longer a program called MSN - for nearly 6 years! The only MSN software now are Trojans, however there is still a MSN Web Portal to access Hotmail accounts.
Download Windows Live Messenger and use the built in configuration utility when you set it up.
try testting on MSN, or Live Chat, u need to go on MSN tools and config Audio/Video settings, to enable mic and webcam (check 1st for webcam and sound card drivers is installed)
Test your webcam here to make sure it broadcasts ok - Hit 'Allow' in the top window and check your cam in the left hand panel.

Having proved your cam is working ,you can configure it to WLM (MSN)
CONFIGURE SOFTWARE to MSN
Its good practice to disconnect and re-connect your webcam before you start - if you have been using it elsewhere the MSN software may have difficulty in locating it, even if you exited the previous program correctly.
The reason being, the webcam software can remain hooked-up to a program and needs to be rebooted.
Mine, I just unplug it from the USB and plug it back in to reboot the software.
If yours is integral with the computer you will have to re-start the computer, use a keyboard shortcut or disable / enable the webcam from the Device Manager.
Open MSN
Click 'Open Menu'
From 'Tools; navigate to, and click, 'Audio and Video setup'
Set your speakers
Click 'Test' - if OK, move on.
Set your mic as default
Use the slider to set volume and test.
Click 'Next'
This takes you to the video setup
Your webcam should be broadcasting - if not - make sure the webcam is set as default - restart MSN
Test it here by clicking 'allow' in top window

If it works OK you need to configure it to WLM Open menu > Tools > audio and video set up - set mic as default if it has built in mic and test audio > Next - set webcam as default and tune picture using settings > Finish
1) Try downloading a new browser and run it without add-ons or plug-ins set it to default and then try msn 2) I am more Yahoo than msn and one way to prevent this in Yahoo is to put the webcam under VFW control try visiting this page - must be with IE !! http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/messenger/messenger9/webcam/mstacamtest.html This action makes a registry change - It increased the frames/ per/ second by 100% for me 3) Increase your virtual memory 4) You do not say if you are on dial-up, if you are I strongly recommend upgrading to broadband. Internet connection via mobile phone can be pretty fragile as well.
This solution did not help me, my webcam did not seem to be mentioned or my problem.
My built-in webcam is A Crystal Eye webcam built into my Acer, i need to set it up MSN but have no disc to do so.
Any other help i would be very grateful for.
Thanks
As long as she is accepting your call when invited it should show up a little MSN advert then show your picture.
The problem may be at your end, so check that you have the cam set up in settings and you both allow video to be accepted, ckeck all the web cam settings and menu options.
If you haven't already, download MSN live messenger.
