Had the same problem and it turned out to be a fried coil. You need to remove the engine top cowling to get to this. On mine, a mouse had built a nest all around my coil (Very common) and, come summer when I used the mower, it toasted the coil. Just a thought. Good luck!

You could remove the top engine cover and try checking the "air-gap"; that is the distance between the ignition module legs and the magnets in the flywheel. A good reading is around .010" or so. That is about the thickness of a standard sized business card, which is commonly used as a feeler gauge in this situation because of the magnets.

I had to go out of town Saturday so I am a little backed up so it may be a day or two until I can get to it. I am very grateful for the help and please believe that I am interested in it and not trying to shierk it off. Sometimes there is just not enough of me to go around.
