If you lift the lid to get access to the cartridges, there should be a diagram showing you how to unjam the carriage. I have a 564, & it has that feature.
Hello,
This can be said as a bit complicated problem. This problem is exhibited by the printer when the cartridge carriage mechanism is getting stuck at some end. I should advice that you make sure that the SS ( Service Station ) of the printer is not jammed / clogged. If yes, try cleaning it.
It is also caused when the motor is malfunctions and tries to move the carriage beyond the path that it should go.
It is best recommended that you consult an authorized HP Service person for the solution of this issue.
Thank you.
Have you tried moving the carriage to see if it really is jammed? Maybe you haven't put the levers down properly on your new cartridges....remove them, see if the carriage slides, then refit them and check the carriage again. You wont visually 'see' a carriage jam,; you have to try moving it. By the way, if it doesn't move, DONT force it to try and overcome the jam try and reason out why it doesn't move. Hope this helps! nicam49
cannot print, msg shows Error carriage jam, Open door, clear carriage jam, and then press o.k. to continue.
paper has been cleared , opened door and even took off back compartment
You could try clearing the jam and then removing power from the printer altogether to re-initialize the printer. However, if that fails either the printer diagnostics chip has gone awry or you have a virus.
The Jam error is most likely cause by one or more
of the sensor flags these are the plastic usually black things hanging
along the paper path. One of those are either stuck or broken. Check
the path and look for those items.
Try opening the top cover again and look into the printer with the help of flashlight or some light. I think you will find that there is paper stuck on one side of the carriage. Do this aspa since if the pape is really there, t will not let the carriage sit over the rubber gasket and will dry the ink out. 303Electronics eBay Stores
Try resetting the printer (pressing the cancel button and connecting the power supply, check in the HP website if this is correct for your printer model) , after the reset the printer will clear any errors and will recalibrate the mechanism including the paper feed mechanism and the carriage. Also check if the carriage is moving freely by disconnecting the power and moving it by hand.
