My heater is displaying ROL

ROL on this heater stands for ROLLOUT. There is a small ceramic switch with 2 wires on the indide front left of the cabinet. The part is only 5-10 dollars US. It can be replaced by anybody. The problem is that this usually only fails when there is a bad burn situation and a flame ROLLOUT occurs.
This can be caused by a sooted heat exchanger, high winds, incorrect venting, incorrect gas supply, or a chipping refractory kit. Make sure everything is cleaned out and looked at before replacing the switch. Especially make sure there is no debris on top of the burner tray.

Rheem 266K to 399K BTU Swimming Pool Natural Gas Heater keeps failing and giving me a ROL and SPR code. The thing is a little over a year old and only been used 1x last winter (we live in Florida). Cannot...

ROL code means Rollout.
This heater used a one time use switch in the cabinet on the left hand side.
The switch will look like a ceramic oval disk about 1.5" in diameter. It will have two wires coming from it.
This switch is one time use because it mean your heater is getting a bad burn. This could be happening due to:

1. High wind situation (could be random)
2. Incorrect gas supply
3. Incorrect venting (if indoor)
4. Obstruction on top of the burner tray.

There was a recall on the refractory kit with some of these models, causing the fire walls to crack off and fall on top of the burner tray. Thus causing the flames to rise too high inside the cabinet and therefor trip the rollout switch. The timeline for the recall matches your heaters date.

I have a Rheem raypack pool and spa heater. I have an error message in the display: "ROL". Can you please describe the issue and possible solutions. Thanks, Stan.

Error Code ROL is "HEAT ROLL-OUT SAFETY SWITCH OPEN". The heater is equipped with a cutoff device to prevent flame roll-out in the event the heat exchanger becomes blocked. This is either a "manual reset", or "Single-use" type fusible link/thermal fuse, that must be replaced or reset after any over temperature conditions have been fixed. Excessive restriction in the heat exchanger flue passage may cause the switch to disable the heater. I don't know your exact model so I'm just generalizing. If you reset or replace the switch, and it trips/burns out again, then you need to address what is causing it. make sure the heater is cleaned out well and no debris is blocking the flue. I fthis doesn't help you can always try calling Raypak Service department at (805) 278-5300.

Opened pool. Rheem heater has the service light blinking

rollout switch is open, and sns is a sensor failure. replace rollout switch, clean out vents, inspect heat exchanger. water sensor senses too cold or too hot water
