SOURCE: My hammer storage Z-BOX HZD4B is showing firmware

IF you are able to get the firmware, it will update the device through its own programming. The problem is that it appears that Hammer Storage is gone! The website is not present. If you want to see about getting the firmware, I would try driverguide.com or some other third party software company that might have the firmware stored somewhere.

I am looking for the Personal Storage Manager to access the Bell HZD4B storage device. The manufacturer seems to be out of business.

I searched using Google.com and did not see software anywhere. I saw a site requiring registration to download manual, but I did not check if it was legitimate or not.

I saw several sites alleging to sell the item, and some appeared to be new in box, which might include the software, but I did not verify it.

Is there any software that similar to hzd4b that will work with my hammer storage box and can run on windows 8.1

Hammer went out of business quite awhile ago. You would have to find the manufacture software for that particular unit which will be difficult given that the company is no longer in business.

Unable to download the Seagate Central NAS 1D driver on my Windows Vista desktop....help?

I think you mean hard drive. NAS devices aren't meant to be plugged into computers. They're meant for networks. NAS means "Network Attached Storage". There should be a disc that comes along with it to set it up. If you don't have one, you can connect to it through a web browser to set it up, thats usually how its done. If you look at the devices in your network, you should find its name, and then you can type in its name in a browser. As an example, if its name is seagate-nas, then you type "seagate-nas\" (without the quotes, and with the '\') into your browser and it should come up

Hi........ I dropped my new Hitachi 3Tb Hardrive, now it is spinning up with Light on but not showing up on any computers. Been to Disk management, Device Manager but its not recognised anywhere, Any...

You probably crashed the head and your drive is now a paper weight. It would be most cost effective to just buy a new drive. If you have data that needs recovered you would want to google "data recovery service" and find a local company if the data is very important, however note that a level 3, most likely what you will need, to pull the data will cost you several thousand dollars.
Side note --- if the drive does not look physically damaged and it's still under warranty you can probably get a free replacement out of it.
Side note --- if it is an external drive and it dropped on the cable plugged in then possibly just the external enclosure controller is damaged. You can buy a new enclosure for about $15 online and it's an easy swap of the drive to the new enclosure.

Can i upgrade a ide and sata drive on my compaq presario sr2010nx pc?

yes you can. i suggest using a program called acronius true image. add the new hard drive. be sure to turn on the sata or ide option in the setup bios. then use the true image software to clone your operating systems to your new hard drive. your source drive will be the original drive, and the destination drive will be your new drive. once the operation is complete , youll need to enter setup again and suggest that the new drive be your first boot device. just follow the on screen directions to complete the new setup. NOW... you can keep your old drive for a backup drive , or... you can format that drive and use it for a secondary storage drive. the hard drive can be accessed by my computer then open the drive and simply drag and drop or choose the drive from a save file drop down selection location popup window. this will allow you to save important files that can be accessed at anytime if your system main drive were to ever fail. another option you have is to place your old hard drive in a external hard drive enclosure that can be purchased via ebay and will allow you a large storage device that is mobile and hold mass data unlike a flash drive. this can be a very valuable tool and wont cost more than 20.00 here is a link for an ide hard drive enclosure with free shipping. if you need a sata enclosure, change the search results to (3.5 sata hard drive enclosure) the choose buy it now and choose PRICE+shippind:LOWEST FIRST. hope this was helpfull.

I have a hzd4b with 4 1-tb drives all new. I try to connect to the box to initilize the system but cannot. I believe the firmware is loaded on the hard drives them selves like the buffalo nas solution. ...

petrykja,
I have the same issue as you. I bought an encloser to hold my drives (that i already owned). My firmware is showing 0.38 so I don't think the firmware is housed on the hard drive. However, when I try to upgrade the firmware it says that it can't find the drive to load from. So I think the firmware is first loaded to one of the drives and then to the motherboard. Not sure. Any luck with this wince December?

Firmware is showing. 0.0.38. Can not access drive

ariesat, I have the same problem. I dropped down to the older version of the PSM and I can see the enclosure. the firmware upgrade fails stating that there is no disk available. I believe there is some partitions that need to be on the disks to do the firmware upgrade. I havent found that answer yet. I will keep looking and will try to let you know if I find anything. Please let me know if you do the same. John

Looking for best deal on DNS-323 + 3TB hard drive

My personal choice would be for Western Digital green series drives

7200 RPM drives with as large a CACHE as possible would be the main part of my specs.

Faster speeds are becoming available but they are still quite new technology so just for now you might want to cross them off the list too

Seagate has taken some hits recently with firmware issues so for the moment they would not be on my list either

SATA interface hard drives ar the only ones supported by this unit so other than what I have said the choice is quite large.
