You need to go get the after market wire interface. You'll pay a little more for it than you might like, but a lot of other electronics go into the back of that unit.

If the warning light is coming on for more than a minute, it should be setting a trouble code in the body computer for the problem that is occuring at the time. You may want to have someone check the body computer for trouble codes next.
The compressor would run if the system looses air pressure or if a load is added to the truck.
i guess you mean p0930 obdii code... that is gear shift lock selenoid circuit problem....when press on brake does gear shifter move freely.. anyway reset and see if returns... if problem with gear shift try replacing selenoid
