Hi,

Try to check under device manager if the webcam attached is detected. To view device manager:
right click on My computer > Manage > Device Manager. Verify if the webcam is detected. if you found error then try to update driver using cd driver.

I know this is an old post, but just in case others are having webcam problems with their a305d webcam... There is a problem with many a305d satellite web cams, the cable/wires that connect the webcam to the motherboard are weak and badly routed. They usually fail due to fatigue at the hinge where it flexes/bends every time the lid is opened/closed. The first symptom usually comes in the form of random Windows USB connected/disconnected sound notifications when the lid/screen is moved. The second is a random USB device not recognized error. Finally, when the cable totally fails, you get a camera driver not loaded error. I've seen bunches of these units with this problem and usually repair it by cutting and removing the section of cable at the aforementioned bend in the hinge area, then soldering and heat shrinking the repair. I then reroute the now shorter cable behind the monitor rather than around it. I do this because it's easier and cheaper than sourcing a new cable and allows a faster turnaround time.

• So, even tho the OP attributed their problem to software, it may not be the actual problem at all. You see, most of the time users blame a newly discovered problem on the last major system event (software or hardware installation, removal or failure). It is a good place to start after all and many times they're right, but just as often they only noticed the problem after the event and the event has nothing to do with actual problem at all. As a tech I see this all the time.

OK, checked around and it seems that support from Frontech doesn't exist anymore for this camera. But there is help. Click here. This will take you to Rapidshare, a file hosting company.

Click on 'Free User' and wait the alloted time to download the file.

Click on download and save your file, remembering where you saved it too (the desktop is always a good place). Double click the file and extract the setup.exe to the desktop and double click the setup.exe and then follow the on-screen instructions.

Supported operating systems:

Win 98, Win 98SE, Win ME, Win NT 3.51, Win 2000 Server, Win XP Home, Win XP Pro, Win 2003 Server, Win Vista

( I did check for this driver on Driverguide.com and it uses Rapidshare as a mirror for its file thats where the link come from). Also I have checked this file for viruses and the like and none exist. But feel free to check it yourself. Remember, it's always good practice to scan any files that you download from the internet for viruses (don't take someones word for it).

if that cam has the outer ring surrounding the lens... you just turn it in either direction... till it is adjusted the way you like
