I havea Gardena C14e Water Timer and I took it apart to try and repair a small crack close to where the water enters from the tap. However after putting it back together the water now runs through it? Do I need to put some air pressure back into the device so the valve works? thanks ian

Some Gardena manuals on following link:

If manual is in another language, use google translate.

I have not heard anyone on fixya report they were able to repair Gardena water timer, or any cracked water timer.

Why can I not get past the "set time" on Gardena water timer?

Check if you get water from the tap without water timer.
Look for obstruction in filter washer (rubber washer with screen mesh to keep debris out of timer)
Battery operated water timers are made to last few years, and cannot be exposed to freezing temperatures or hot sunlight

When is ON the timer admit a water jet and after that the valve is closing even if the battery is full, the timer ON and the supply of water open. Thanks

Problem is not clear and timer not identified.

If timer is cracked, then electric parts can get wet and stop working.
If timer valve is not closing, maybe the timer is broken or something is stuck in the valve.

Cant stop the timer leaking

Gardena certainly has a glossy site, but I have been unsuccessful trying to contact the company.
Their products come with warranty and they show parts, but no hint where you can buy parts.

I do not know how to fix your plastic timer valve, or if parts would actually repair the thing.
Maybe glue except I don't know a plastic glue that holds on outside of device under water pressure.
Plus I cannot see where it is leaking, and there is no description that tells me if valve was left outside and cracked with freezing water, or if the valve is 10 years old, or if exposed to hard water deposits or minerals in the water, or particulate has scratched moving parts, or high water pressure, or if wd-40 spray lubricant dissolved the o-ring, or if the valve cracked from an impact, or if exposure to sun/heat has made the plastic brittle.

From fixya standpoint, gardena is the most problematic watering device.

On one 2hr Timer the clock does not tick to record the minutes used.On the other the thread is broken connecting the Tmer to the tap.

There are no replacement parts for water timers.
Clock motors are small with plastic gears, and they wear down and get slow, and then overheat and quit. If timer is electronic, the circuit board and components have finite lifespan and don't last long exposed to elements and daily temperature fluctuation
Be sure to bring water timers inside each winter to avoid cracks caused by ice expansion.

After winter storage and frost interference my gardena water control T1030 plus seems to misbehave. There is a small hole on the side of the filter (which I haven't noticed before) through which a strong...

If you leave water inside plastic timer or plastic hose parts, and water freezes during winter, then the plastic will split as frozen water expands.
Buy new water control.

By the way, if they made the same parts out of brass or copper, the brass and copper would expand instead of crack during a freeze, but the internal valves would be ruined anyway.
So plastic is a good material, just bring these things indoors or drain the water for winter storage.

Which gardena water timer will work the best?

Generally speaking, fixya sees more complaints about Gardena water timers than other brands. Maybe more Gardena timers are sold, or maybe the timers have problems.
There are no sources for water timer parts for any brand, and nobody reports being able to fix a water timer once it goes bad.
Any plastic outdoor device that works with a battery-operated clock motor cannot last more than a year or so, and will crack if exposed to freezing water.
I suggest the cheapest timer.
