Now the tv u turn on u have a flashes of a picture only few sec. and died have sound left only?Yes,than the 2 long boards call the LCD inverter boards are the causes and the problems. These 2 long LCD inverter boards help the LCD screen panel to have a backlight to produced a picture.Tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy those 2 refurbishes long LCD inverter board for the replacement.
The TV does not flash a picture at all. It powers up with a dark blue screen with a light glow to it. So I assume that the back light is working. I can not view the menu or input settings at all.
I had the same problem 6 months ago. After tons and tons of research I replaced the main board and the problem was fixed. I should mention that some people say that the inverter boards are the problem but I tried that as well with no luck (they're significantly cheaper so why not?) Got the main board from shopjimmy.com. Unfortunately the board died again recently and I have sound but no video again. I'm wondering if there could be an underlying problem with the power board sending the wrong signals?
After reading above and under I still feel as dumb as before. We have exactly the same problem as louis823 but it helped too unplug the power supply overnight until now. Our TV was bought in Dec. 2009 so only 14 months old when the problem started in Feb.. We googled a class action regarding Vizio and found a lawyer that isplanning a class action case. Vizio has filed a clame against LG that made some of the parts, to my understanding. That makes me furious that they obviously know there is a huge problem with the TV's. Hard to tell how far this will go when they are blaming each other and we the consumer are the one that payed for this lemon. There is obviously a major defect with these VIZIO TV's. The least they could do is inform the consumer how to fix them or provide a kit. It cannot be legal & they need to recall them! We will not let this go.
The problem is the Main Board or Video Board ( Same board two names) Never buy a Vizio again. I have two Sony and one Sharp and Never been a problem
