Wii freezing up due to message

Hello. I got a wii problem i hope you can help me with.

Every time I switch on my Wii, it freezes after about 5 seconds. The blue light comes on about a second before - showing it's due to a message that it freezes. I know that the message is a massive chain email full of massive colourful text and loads of hyperlinks - because my it is a message that my friend sent, both to the Wii and to my email inbox. I guess that the message has taken up the Wii's memory or something, and the only way I can see to fix the problem would be to restore it to factory settings - but the Wii always freezes before i can get into the wii settings menu.

I have also tried removing the internal lithium battery - did so for several hours but the message remained.

Is it possible to delete things on the wii or wipe the memory without having to access the menu?

Would be great if you could help!

Many thanks

This is easy, just hold + and - at the black startup screen that comes up when you turn your wii on. This will put it in maitenence mode and disable the message board. From there you can do anything you want with your wii as long as you don't use the message board. Hope that helps.

I'm not sure that you can reset it to factory without using the menu. However if you have an SD card you might try putting that in. The wii might see that and use that as memory since the wii memory is full and boot up.

My game from wii shop keeps freezing.

You should never (very very rarely) have to unplug the wii. If this occurs again hold down the power button for around 10 seconds, it should power off. There is also a red reset switch under the door below the area where you insert the disc. Does it freeze in the EXACT same spot every time?

Wii Freeze Up

Hi,
Sounds like you need a soft or hard reset.
try unplugging the console from the mains for 5-10 minutes, then try turning on re-booting. remove any memory cards et,c. when you startup.

WII KEPS FREEZING PLZ ANSWER

Most likely, your system is overheating. Make sure you have several inches of space all the way around your system (except of course underneath it) and that it's not in an enclosed space. The system will shut itself off to keep from breaking. Good luck!

When I turn on the Wii console freezes in the main menu screen.

Try the Wii "RESET".
Here's how:
1. Unplug the Wii for at least 5 minutes.
2. Plug it back in.
