Uscamera.com sells the latch for $6.50 and $3.50 U.S. mail postage. I got one to replace my broken latch, but can't yet understand how to get latch and its spring installed.

My kodak easyshare dx7630 will not power on or I don't know how, can you please tell me how

I found instructions online here: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:YS5DhgIqJHEJ:resources.kodak.com/support/pdf/en/manuals/urg00230/DX7630_GLB_en.pdf+kodak+easyshare+dx7630&cd=4&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&source=www.google.com
It says the following: While pressing the Mode dial lock, turn the Mode dial from Off to Auto .
The Power ring glows green. The camera screen turns on. The Ready light blinks green while the camera performs a self-check, then turns off when the camera is ready.
To turn off the camera, turn the Mode dial to off.
Hope that helps.

Battery lock broken, needs replaced camera will not turn on with a fully charged battery

I had the same problem and was able to find a replacement lock and spring on e-bay from US Camera - P/N 370388337496). They may have none left. Not sure.

I have no instructions on how to install the replacement, but don't think it should be that hard (haven't installed mine yet). It is called a Kodak DX7630 Battery Latch and Spring Assembly.

You can also contact United Camera Customer Service (1-630-595-2525) and talk with them. They are the company that Kodak will send you to for repairs to your DX7630.

The part number From Kodak PartsDepartment (1-800-431-7278 (opt #2) is: F6170 for the latch. The did not have any springs on hand.

Kodak dx7630 got wet and won't come on now.

Please open the camera completely. Take the batteries and SD card out and let it dry in a warm place for longer than 24h. After this please follow the suggestions: 1. Make sure you will install a new or fully charged battery/batteries into your camera. Please use lithium batteries Ni-Mh or rechargeable Batteries (2000 M.Amp or higher). 2. Clean the battery contacts. a. Remove the battery/batteries and the memory card from your camera, then wipe the battery contacts with a soft, clean cloth. b. Reinstall the battery/batteries into your camera 3. Turn on your camera without the memory card. (If it works then it?s your memory card that is faulty) There is no frimware accessable online for this model so if above suggestions don't work I'm sorry to say that the unit is officially ruined.

Kodak DX7630 Battery lock

KODAK doesn't have any batt. doors for this model.

Instead KODAK offers a trade up option where you will have the opportunity to trade up to a newer model 25-30% cheaper than the market price.

Contact KODAK:

You could also see if you could find one on Ebay or others.

Camera battery clip

Well, I got the latch and spring back into my DX7630, and so far (half an hour after) so good.

To do this, I had a replacement latch from U.S. Camera ($10 total, latch plus shipping and handling) and the original spring on hand. I took all of the eight screws holding the camera body together. I also pulled off the "rubber" hand grip on the front of the camera. I'm not sure if that was necessary or not, but in doing it I broke off one of the "claws" that secure the grip.

Then I turned the camera so the battery door was on top, opened the door, and gently pried the camera body halves apart. I used "square" wooden toothpicks to hold the body apart so I could get at the latch area. (The battery was not in the camera during all this work.)

There are two small slots in the camera body where the latch is held and pivots. The latch pivots can be slipped into those slots if the toothpicks have the body wedged open widely enough.

The hard part of the assembly is getting that latch spring properly mounted. The spring fits over the rod of the latch. The spring wire has two ends: one is shorter. The shorter-end goes behind the latch on the memory card side. The longer-end makes the job difficult. It must be held so that the spring is under tension while the battery side latch pivot is slipped into its slot, then the memory card side latch pivot is slipped into its slot. The longer spring-end presses against the camera body.

The latch and spring only flew away into the darkness of this room once during the effort, and that happened because I tested the latch a few times before closing the camera body. The body halves should be closed before doing any latch testing.

I put all the screws back into the camera snapped the rubber hand grip back in, put in a battery and a memory card, and at this writing, all seems to be working as designed. Hooray!
