Vw golf 1 timing

This engine is fully electronically controlled, you must do a fault code test, once you have the fault codes you do the required fault codes testing per the factory service manual and replace or repair the problem(s) that caused the loss of spark.

I have a 2006 vw golf 1.4. The exhaust fault light has come on and using a diagnostic machine i have found that fan relay no1 is faulty. Can anyone tell me where this is so i can replace it?

The fan has nothing to do with the fault for the exhaust. Please see a dealer on this, you need a VW approved live data scanner to check this out.

The parts aren't really that expensive, it's the labor these places charge an hour. Call around and see who can do it the cheapest, unless you want to do it your self.

If the check engine light is on look at the faults. It could be a defective cam sensor, the timing belt might not be in the place, or a defective mass air flow sensor.
