How to clean and fix a leaking gas tank. ... i repair rusted gas tanks with fiberglass putty, works really well, i have a car that i fixed 7 years ago ...
Hi faheem_najam... You probably have debis blocking the drain hole of the air compressor tank.. You will need to depressurize the tank...and remove the drain from the tank at the bottom of the tank...once you have the drain valve removed, get a stiff piece of wire and bend a small hook in the end and insert it into the tank where the valve was...and try to remove the debris with the stiff wire. Most likely your debris will be flakes of rust from the inside of the tank. Bud
The proper way is to remove the tank from the unit. You can also use a vacuum type device to remove all the fuel and water although it is very difficult to remove everything without removing the tank. Make sure you do not use a motorized vacuum device unless it is ul rated for use around gasoline!!!!
remove fuel filler hoses, support tank, remove fuel tank straps. lower tank to access fuel lines. disconnect lines and connectors.remove tank dump fuel in suitable container and dispose of properly
well first of all, it's a good thing you're draining it, because there's rust in your gas tank. Second, you're going to have to siphon the gas out, and third, use a proper technique, because i doubt that gas is too tasty
