It should still be under a one-year warranty. Contact Garmin for warranty claims. The first link below is Garmin's generic US warranty; the second is their customer support.
In case it is a software problem try this and see if it will fix it....Try this and see if it fixes your problem...follow these steps. 1. Power off the unit. 2. HOLD down the power button and you will see "Pre Boot Mode" appear on the lower part of the display. KEEP HOLDING the power button down and the display will flicker, do this until the pre boot mode message disappears. This seems to take a long time (60 seconds at least). 3. Once the pre boot mode message disappears release the power button and your device will perform some activites to try recover from the problem.
Can you update the firmware on your unit
my k800i sony phone had a problem synchronising and would freeze, then one day the nuvi 660 updated the firmware by itself and has been fine since, only problem being the volume, a bit low when trying to contest with large diesel engine, onboard speaker keen to distort over 80% volume
This series of Nuvi has 2 sets of voices for several of the available languages. The standard set is pre-recorded words linked together to form directions. This voice is usually clearer. However you lose street names and expanded vocabulary. The Text-To-Speech (TTS) voices are reading letters to form words, and uses an algorithm to come up with the approximate pronunciation of the word. This may sound less clear, but provides street names. So, you can select a standard voice (settings-locale-voice language) and lose some functionality, or select one of the many TTS voices and try to find one that doesn't offend the ear.
i have been told that voice to street is not as clear as the voice just stating turns. If it really bothers you then try voice to turn. I cant remember the setting but it should work well for you.
